UNDP in Montenegro - ArchiveBelgrade, 6 July 2005 Country Programme Action Plan CPAP signed between The Council of Ministers of Serbia and Montenegro, Government of the Republic of Serbia and Government of the Republic of Montenegro and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) “The importance of this first CPAP is in recognizing specificities of each of the Republics and increase of the core resources for UNDP liaison office in PG. By approval of this document Governments commit themselves to work on the poverty reduction and sustainable development”. Garret Tankosic-Kelly, The Council of Ministers of Serbia and Montenegro, Government of the Republic of Serbia and Government of the Republic of Montenegro and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have been jointly working on the UNDP Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP) for the period 2005-2009. CPAP is plan for the activities that UNDP will implement in this four years period. Besides the summary of past cooperation and key results, the document is outlining UNDP's priority areas and means of support for the Governments' priorities and aspirations in the following period - from assistance in reforms to international and EU integration processes. The Council of Ministers of Serbia and Montenegro approved programmes defined in CPAP after the consultations with various partners and stakeholders. In Montenegro, CPAP is focusing on: - Support to Sustainable Development Strategy, focusing on tourism, biodiversity management and renewable energy; - and public administration reform through the Capacity Development Programme and civil society involvement in PRSP, with a focus on Roma and other marginalized groups. In the upcoming period, UNDP will commit approximately US$6.5 million of its regular resources to this Country Programme Action Plan implementation for 2005-2009. Resources will be allocated for the State Union, Republic of Serbia and Republic of Montenegro Governments. UNDP will also engage in mobilizing additional non-core resources from funding partners currently estimated to reach the level up to US$40 million during the same programme period. For instance, only last year, UNDP in Serbia and Montenegro has delivered around US$12 million through various programmes, and during past 3 years close to US$40 million. Allocated resources will be used to support national counterparts in policy advice, technical assistance, capacity building and knowledge generation and sharing. CPAP was signed by H.E. Mr. Predrag Ivanovic, Minister of International Economic Relations of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, H.E. Mr. Milan Parivodic, Minister of International Economic Relations of the Republic of Serbia, H.E. Mr. Miodrag Vlahovic, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Montenegro and myself, Mr. Arturo Hein, UNDP Resident Representative (Officer in Charge). |
